Music of the British Isles. Volume One.
An hour of music|
The tunes in this volume were collected over several years. They represent the most enjoyable pieces to listen to and to play. Included in this collection are several tunes that are very difficult to play, notably 'The Devil Among The Tailors' (sometimes known as 'The Devil's Dream') and 'The Mason's Apron'. |

There are tunes from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Often we are asked whether we know a particular tune to play. The answer to this is not always. This is because so many tunes have numerous titles. Different titles occur when a tune becomes popular in another region and is eventually claimed as its own. There may be slight variations to the tune. |

The movement of music throughout our islands and the United States, Canada and the islands in between has occurred over many years and it is almost impossible to specify the origin of them all. The obvious solution is not to worry about this but to enjoy the music. |
The music in Volume One

The tunes in Volume One have been organised so that there are reels, then jigs followed by airs or ballads. |
Typically there are three or four tunes to each set of reels or jigs. |
